I’m taking on the Lift The Weight Challenge

From 11–18 April, I’m committing to 8 exercises a day for 8 days to raise funds for suicide prevention.

8 Australians lose their lives to suicide every day. I’m supporting R U OK? to help start meaningful conversations and encourage people to check in with those around them.

If you can, please donate and help me make a difference.

Lift the Weight: Anytime Fitness Nowra Supporting R U OK?

Friday 13th Mar

At Anytime Fitness Nowra, we believe strength isn’t just about what you can lift in the gym — it’s also about lifting each other up in everyday life.

That’s why we’re proud to launch our “Lift the Weight” Challenge, a community initiative designed to raise awareness and donations for R U OK?, an Australian charity dedicated to encouraging meaningful conversations and supporting mental health.

A Partnership Built on Supporting People

The values of Anytime Fitness and R U OK? align closely. Both organizations are passionate about creating supportive communities where people feel connected, valued and encouraged to look after their wellbeing.

While Anytime Fitness focuses on improving physical health, we also recognize that mental health is just as important. That’s why the work R U OK? does — encouraging people to check in with each other and start conversations that could change or even save lives — resonates strongly with the culture we aim to create inside our clubs.

Gyms are more than just places to train. They’re communities where friendships are formed, support networks grow, and people show up for each other. Supporting R U OK? is a natural extension of what we already believe in: looking out for one another.

What Is the Lift the Weight Challenge?

Our Lift the Weight Challenge invites members to take part in a strength-based challenge while helping raise awareness for mental health.

Participants will attempt to lift as much total weight as possible across selected strength exercises such as:

  • Squats

  • Deadlifts

  • Bench Press

  • Other strength movements

Every rep represents more than just physical strength — it represents our commitment to supporting one another and raising awareness about mental health.

Raising Awareness and Donations

Alongside the challenge, we will be encouraging members and the local community to donate in support of R U OK?. Funds raised will help the organization continue their important work of empowering Australians to recognize the signs when someone might be struggling and giving them the confidence to ask the simple but powerful question:

“Are you OK?”

More Than a Gym

At Anytime Fitness Nowra, we’re proud to be part of a community that values connection, support and wellbeing — both inside and outside the gym.

The Lift the Weight Challenge is about reminding people that while we might come to the gym to get stronger physically, the greatest strength we can show is supporting the people around us.

Get Involved

We encourage all members to get involved, support the cause, and help us spread awareness.

Because sometimes the most important lift you can make isn’t on a barbell — it’s lifting someone’s spirits by simply checking in.

Next time you see a friend, family member, or fellow gym member, take a moment and ask:

R U OK?

Together, we can lift more than just weights — we can lift each other.
